How the tweet ID to date conversion works
Every tweet posted since November 2010 has a 64-bit Snowflake ID. Its highest 41 bits are a timestamp in milliseconds since the Twitter epoch, so the creation time can be recovered without calling any API:
timestamp_ms = (tweet_id >> 22) + 1288834974657Tweet IDs are larger than JavaScript's safe integer range, so this tool uses BigInt to avoid rounding errors. For example, 1585841080431321088 resolves to 2022-10-28 03:49:11.734 UTC.

Frequently asked questions
How do you get a date from a tweet ID?
+
Since November 2010, tweet IDs are "Snowflake" IDs: the first 41 bits store the number of milliseconds since the Twitter epoch (1288834974657, i.e. 2010-11-04 01:42:54.657 UTC). Shifting the ID right by 22 bits and adding that epoch gives the exact creation time: (id >> 22) + 1288834974657.
Does this work with x.com and twitter.com links?
+
Yes. Paste full links such as https://x.com/user/status/123…, https://twitter.com/user/status/123…, mobile.twitter.com links or links with ?s= tracking parameters. The tool extracts the numeric ID automatically.
Can I convert many tweet IDs at once?
+
Yes. Paste as many IDs or URLs as you like, one per line or separated by spaces or commas, then copy or download the results as CSV.
Why does an old tweet show an error?
+
Tweets posted before November 2010 used sequential IDs that do not contain a timestamp, so their date cannot be calculated from the ID alone.
Is the timestamp accurate even if the tweet was deleted?
+
Yes. The time is encoded in the ID itself, so it works for deleted, protected or suspended tweets as long as you have the ID. Nothing is fetched from X and nothing leaves your browser.
Which time zone is the local time in?
+
Local time uses your browser's time zone. The UTC column and the Unix timestamp in milliseconds are time-zone independent.
